Accessibility
Last reviewed: August 5, 2026
Bookva should be usable by as many people as possible, including people who browse with a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, or need larger text and stronger contrast. This page explains what we do about that, what we know still falls short, and how to reach a person if the site gets in your way.
1. Our commitment
We work to make the site usable for everyone who wants to buy a comic from us. Accessibility is part of how we build rather than a one-off project, and we treat a barrier as a bug: if something blocks you, we want to know and we want to fix it.
2. What we do
Our interface is built on a shared design system, so improvements land everywhere at once instead of page by page. In practice that means we aim for text contrast and visible keyboard focus to meet the WCAG 2.1 AA thresholds, we label form fields so a screen reader can announce them, and we honor your operating system setting for reduced motion.
We run automated accessibility checks against key pages as part of our development process and fix what they surface. Automated tools only catch part of what matters, so we also check important flows by keyboard by hand. Where practical and feasible, we address reported problems as we become aware of them.
3. Known limitations
We would rather tell you where we fall short than claim we are finished. As of the review date above, we know about the following.
- The comic artwork itself is pictures. Every page is an illustration generated for your story, and we cannot meaningfully describe that artwork in text. Theprinted book is a visual product. Everything around it, including choosing a cover and seeing your preview, should still be operable.
- Building a comic needs a photo. The likeness comes from a photo you upload, so that step cannot be completed without one. If uploading is difficult for you, see the next section.
- Payment forms come from our payment providers. Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal fields are rendered by Stripe and PayPal, so their accessibility is largely outside our control. If you cannot complete payment, we can send you a different way to pay.
- Some interactive parts are newer than others. The comic builder has drag-and-drop, image galleries, and progress screens that may not yet work well with every assistive technology.
4. Ordering another way
You do not have to use the website to buy a comic. If any part of the builder is hard or impossible for you to use, email support@bookva.co and say you would like to order by email. A person will take the details of your story, build the comic with you, send the preview for you to approve, and send a secure link to pay. You will get the same product at the same price.
This route is also open if you only need help with one step, such as uploading a photo or completing checkout. Tell us what you are stuck on and we will pick it up from there.
5. Tell us what is not working
If you hit a barrier anywhere on bookva.co, email support@bookva.co. It helps if you can tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what you use to browse, such as a screen reader, magnifier, or keyboard only. A real person reads that inbox and we aim to reply within two business days.
Feedback about accessibility is genuinely useful to us. It is usually how we find out that something we shipped does not work the way we assumed.
6. Updates to this statement
Accessibility is ongoing work, so we review this page as the site changes and update the review date above when we do. For how we handle your data, see our privacy policy, and for the terms of sale see our terms of service.
