This privacy policy explains how UNIAI TECHNOLOGY - FZCO (“Bookva”, “we”, “us”), the company operating bookva.co, collects, uses, shares, and deletes personal information. Bookva creates personalized printed comics in which someone you love — a child or an adult — is the hero. The service is offered to adults (18+) in the United States.
The short version: any photo you upload — whether it shows a child or an adult — is used only to illustrate your comic. It is stored encrypted in the United States for up to 24 hours and then permanently deleted. We never create or store face templates or any other biometric identifiers, and your photo is never used to train AI models. Your finished comic stays in your account for 12 months so you can reorder prints — you can delete it at any time.

2. Information we collect
- Order details you provide:the hero’s first name, gender, whether the hero is a child or an adult, age (for a child hero), and a few details you tell us about them.
- The photo you upload: one photo of the hero — a child or an adult — used solely to illustrate the comic (see section 4 for retention).
- Contact and shipping data: your email address, and — when you place an order — your shipping name, address, and phone number (the phone number lets the delivery carrier reach you about your delivery).
- Payment data: processed by Stripe; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Consent records: the consents you give before uploading a photo, including a timestamp and the version of the consent text you saw.
- Usage data:device and browser information, pages visited, and events such as “preview created”, collected both via cookies (subject to your cookie choices — see our cookie policy) and via cookieless, aggregate analytics that runs by default to measure traffic and site performance.
3. How we use information
- To generate your free preview and, after purchase, the full comic and printed book.
- To process payment, print, and ship your order.
- To run internal quality checks on the generated illustrations.
- To send transactional emails (order confirmation, shipping updates, sign-in links).
- To send occasional promotional emails (new ideas, features, and offers) to the email you gave us to start or place an order — you can unsubscribe at any time (see section 9).
- To measure and improve the service and our advertising, unless you opt out of analytics and advertising cookies.
- To comply with legal obligations (accounting, fraud prevention).
We do not sell your personal information for money. For advertising measurement we do share a limited set of your identifiers with a third-party advertising platform in hashed (pseudonymized) form — see section 6 — which may be considered “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California and other state laws. You can opt out of this at any time (see section 9). We do not use your information for unrelated purposes.
4. The hero’s photo — retention, destruction, and biometric notice
This section also serves as our public retention-and-destruction policy and biometric identifier notice. It applies to every photo you upload — whether the hero is a child or an adult, and whether the person pictured is you or someone else.
- The uploaded photo is stored in a private, encrypted storage bucket in the United States and is automatically and permanently deleted no later than 24 hours after upload — sooner once generation and quality review are complete. The same 24-hour deletion applies to a photo of a child and to a photo of an adult alike.
- The photo is used only (a) to generate the comic illustrations and (b) for internal quality review of likeness consistency. It is never published, never used for marketing, and never used to train AI models.
- We do not create, capture, collect, purchase, sell, lease, trade, profit from, or store biometric identifiers or biometric information as defined by laws such as the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, the Texas Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act, or the Colorado Privacy Act. No face templates, faceprints, face geometry, or facial embeddings are created or persisted anywhere — for any photo, child or adult.
- The photo is processed by a third-party AI provider under a zero-data-retention setting — the provider is instructed not to retain the photo after processing and not to use it to train AI models (see section 6). It is used only to create your comic. We delete the photo from our own systems within 24 hours of upload. We never disclose the photo to anyone else.
5. Children’s privacy
Bookvais an adult-facing gift service. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use it or collect information directly from children. The hero can be a child or an adult. When the hero is a child, the photo and details are provided by an adult who confirms, before upload, that they are 18 or older and the child’s parent or legal guardian (or have that parent’s or guardian’s express permission); a parent or guardian may request deletion of the child’s information at any time (section 9). When the hero is an adult, no children’s information is involved, and the uploader confirms they have the right to use that person’s photo. Either way, the photo is deleted within 24 hours (section 4).
6. Service providers (sub-processors)
We share personal information only with the categories of providers needed to operate the service and to measure our advertising:

We maintain a written data-retention and information-security program covering encryption in transit and at rest, access controls limited to staff who need it, and secure deletion.
8. Where data is processed
Your data is stored in the United States, and our website, database, and file storage run in US regions. To create your comic, the photo is sent to a third-party AI provider (see section 6) under zero data retention; it is used only to create your comic and is not used to train AI models. These providers operate primarily in the United States, though we do not control the exact processing region or how long each keeps operational logs. Our corporate seat is in the United Arab Emirates; access to production data from outside the US is restricted to what is necessary to operate and support the service.
9. Your rights and choices
- Deletion: you can ask us to delete your account, the generated comic, and associated personal information at any time — email privacy@bookva.co from the address used for the order. We honor verified requests within 45 days.
- Access and correction: you may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
- Marketing emails: when you give us your email to start or place an order, we may send occasional promotional emails (new ideas, features, and offers); US law (CAN-SPAM) lets us do this unless you opt out. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also email privacy@bookva.co to opt out. Unsubscribing stops marketing emails only — we will still send the transactional and service messages you need (order confirmations, shipping updates, sign-in links, and important account or legal notices).
- Cookie choices and “Do Not Sell or Share”: use the “Your privacy choices” link in the footer at any time to turn non-essential cookies on or off. We treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out of selling or sharing. Opting out also stops the hashed identifier sharing with the advertising platform described in sections 3 and 6 — including on the server side. See the cookie policy.
- State privacy rights: depending on your state of residence (e.g. California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Virginia), you may have additional rights to know, correct, delete, or opt out of targeted advertising. We honor such requests at the contacts above regardless of threshold applicability.
10. Security
We use HTTPS everywhere, encrypt stored files, restrict access to production systems, and log access to sensitive data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; if a breach affecting your data occurs, we will notify you as required by law.
11. AI disclosure
Comic illustrations and story ideas are generated by artificial intelligence based on the details and photo you provide:
- Story ideas: the plot options you choose from are written by an AI text model using the name and the details you provide.
- Illustrations:every panel, including the hero’s likeness, is created by AI from the photo you provide.
- Your photo is never used to train AI models, and no biometric identifiers are created (see section 4).
AI illustration is creative, not photographic. The hero will be recognizable, but it is a stylized comic character, not an exact portrait, and small details can vary from panel to panel. That is why the preview is free — you see the actual AI-generated style and likeness before paying. We use the latest AI models and re-render every page at a higher quality for print, and a human reviews every purchased book before it goes to print.
12. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the date above. For material changes affecting the photo or children’s data, we will notify you by email before they take effect.
