Terms of service
Last updated: September 5, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and UNIAI TECHNOLOGY - FZCO (“Bookva,” “we”), license no. 43405, A1, IFZA Building, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 33203. They govern your use of bookva.co and your purchase of personalized printed comics. By using the site or placing an order you accept these terms.
1. Eligibility
You must be 18 or older to use Bookva. The service is offered to customers in the United States; we currently ship only to US addresses. The hero of the comic can be a child or an adult. By uploading a photo you confirm you have the right to use the likeness of everyone shown in it: when the hero is a child, that you are the child’s parent or legal guardian (or have that parent’s or guardian’s express permission); when the hero is an adult, that the photo is of you or that you have that person’s permission to use it.
2. The service
You provide the hero’s first name, a few details, and a photo of the hero (a child or an adult); we generate a free AI-illustrated preview. If you love it and pay, we make the full comic, print it as a physical book, and ship it to you. Illustrations and story ideas are AI-generated — see the AI disclosure in our privacy policy. The preview is drawn quickly at draft quality; for the printed book we re-render every page at a higher quality. The printed pages therefore differ from the preview in details, while keeping the story and the hero you chose.
Your book is made and sent to you automatically. After payment, AI systems write, illustrate, and assemble the whole book; no one on our team edits or reviews the pages unless you ask for a change or a step needs attention. When the book is ready we email it to you, page by page, so you can look it over before it prints. That email names a deadline — typically 48 hours, with the exact date and time stated in the email. Until then you can approve the book with one tap or ask for changes by replying; if you ask for changes, nothing prints until we have made them and you have seen the book again. If we do not hear from you by the deadline, the book is treated as approved and goes to print exactly as it was sent to you. Until the printer has taken the book, your own approval or change request still counts, even after the deadline. Once the printer has it, the book can no longer be changed or canceled.
3. Your content and consents
- You confirm that everything you submit (name, details, photo) is accurate, that you own or have all rights needed to share it, and that you have the right to use the likeness of everyone shown in the photo — whether that person is a child or an adult, and whether it is you or someone else. Do not upload a photo of someone else’s child, or of any person who has not authorized it.
- By continuing past the email step you agree to these terms and our privacy policy, and the photo step tells you, before you upload, how the photo is handled. The photo — of a child or an adult — is processed as described in the privacy policy: stored at most 24 hours then deleted, never used to train AI, with no biometric identifiers created or stored. When the hero is a child, you also give the parental consents shown on the photo step.
- You may not submit content that is unlawful, hateful, or sexual; photos of adults presented as children; or characters, names, logos, or artwork owned by third parties (for example Marvel, Pokémon, or Bluey characters). You confirm that you hold the rights to everything you send us, including every photo and every person shown in it.
- If you ask for someone else’s character or logo, we draw an original version of it instead and complete the rest of your request — we will tell you when we do. We may also decline or cancel an order that conflicts with this section, with a full refund. If a claim is brought against us because of content you supplied, you agree to cover it.
4. Intellectual property
- Your photo: you keep all rights. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process the photo solely to create your preview and comic, expiring when the photo is deleted (at most 24 hours after upload).
- The generated comic: the printed book is yours — keep it, gift it, or pass it on. What you may not do is commercially reproduce its content: no making or selling copies, merchandise, or derivative products from it. The digital edition comes with a personal, non-commercial license for you and your household: read it, print it for yourself, and share it personally — including posting pages or photos of it on your social media. You may not sell it, offer it for download, or use it commercially. Bookva retains rights to its art styles, story templates, branding, and software.
- Rights holders: if you believe a book we made includes your intellectual property, write to ip@bookva.co with the work and where it appears. We answer within one business day and remove the material while we look into it.
- Corrections: if a book turns out to include material that infringes someone else’s rights, we may correct the affected element and reissue your digital edition; you agree to stop sharing the earlier version once we send you the corrected one.
5. Pricing and payment
Prices are shown in US dollars at checkout before you pay. Payment is processed by Stripe or PayPal; we charge when you place the order. There are no subscriptions and no recurring charges — every purchase is a one-time order. Applicable taxes, if any, are shown at checkout.
6. Shipping, cancellation, and refunds
- Where we ship: we currently print and ship to addresses in the United States only.
- Shipping charges: tracked US delivery is charged separately at a flat $6.90 per order. Some products include delivery at no extra charge; whichever applies to your order is itemized on the order summary before you pay, and that itemized total is what we charge.
- Production and delivery times: after you pay, your book is made automatically, usually within a day, goes to print after the review window in section 2, and ships with tracked US delivery — most orders arrive within about three weeks. These are estimates, not guarantees; the order summary shows the estimated arrival date before you pay.
- If we are running late: if we cannot ship within the time we stated, we will email you with a new estimated date, and you can either keep waiting or cancel that order for a full refund.
- Before it prints: you can cancel for a full refund at any time before your book is sent to the printer — including after you have received the finished book by email. Once the printer has taken it, an order can no longer be canceled; the defect and lost-shipment terms below still apply. Contact support@bookva.co with your order number.
- Defects and damage: if your book arrives damaged, misprinted, or with a production defect, tell us within 30 days of delivery — a photo of the issue helps — and we will reprint it or refund you in full, your choice. You do not need to mail anything back.
- Change of mind: because each book is personalized and printed for one specific person, we cannot accept returns of a correctly produced book. The free preview exists so you can check the likeness and style before paying, and the finished book is emailed to you before it prints so you can ask for changes in time.
- Lost shipments: if tracking shows your order never arrived, we will reprint or refund it.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method, typically within 5–10 business days.
7. Your account
We use passwordless sign-in: a magic link sent to your email. Your finished comic stays in your account for 12 months for reprints, after which it is deleted. You can delete your account and comic at any time (see the privacy policy).
8. Acceptable use
You may not abuse the service: no automated scraping, probing, or load testing; no attempts to bypass preview limits; no selling or commercially redistributing generated digital content; no interfering with other customers’ use.
9. Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided “as is.” AI-generated artwork is creative by nature and an exact likeness is not guaranteed — the free preview shows you what to expect. We use leading AI models to write and illustrate each book, and we re-render every page at a higher quality for print. The book is produced automatically, and no page is reviewed by hand before it is sent to you — which is why we send you the whole book to look over before it prints. Even so, like all AI-created art, the finished book can contain minor artistic imperfections, such as an odd detail in a background, uneven lettering, or a stylized hand. We cannot guarantee that every panel is flawless. Imperfections of this artistic kind are inherent to an AI-illustrated book and are not production defects under section 6 — that section still fully covers printing and binding defects, misprints, and damage in transit. Printed colors may also vary slightly from how they look on your screen. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the order concerned. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law in your state grants you and that cannot be waived.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates (Emirate of Dubai), without affecting any mandatory consumer protections of the state where you live. We will first try to resolve any dispute informally — write to support@bookva.co. Disputes that cannot be resolved informally are subject to the competent courts of Dubai, UAE, unless mandatory law gives you the right to bring the claim where you live.
11. Changes
We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest revision. Material changes will be announced on the site, and continued use after they take effect means you accept them. Orders are governed by the terms in force when you placed them.
